Norma said she told investigators that the commission officials deliberately leaked her affidavit to the Sunday Times.

When City Press called her, she was asked where her affidavit was. At the time, they had not agreed with her legal team if they would appear before Zondo or not.- Ntwaagae Seleka

Regarding her own security, Norma thought the commission would explain which option they were offering her.

She said there was no communication between her and the commission over her security. After she appeared before Deputy Chief Justice Zondo, she was asked if she needed security and she declined, because she had already appeared.

Norma said the commission assured her that it would provide her with security, and it didn’t happen. On 20 March, a meeting was held with the head of security, and advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi was there.

During the meeting, they explained security options to Norma and to choose either relocating to a place of safety or being provided with a bodyguard.

Mngoma: “I called my senior counsel about Sunday Times having an entire copy of my entire affidavit. I was shocked because when we were preparing for my testimony, I was told that my affidavit was confidential. I called [advocate Thembeka] Ngcukaitobi, who was upset about that.”

Mngoma: “I expressed my unhappiness because I was promised that it would be treated confidential. I felt that my trust with the commission was broken. My affidavit was leaked to the media. Advocate Paul Pretorius said every copy had a mark and they would know who leaked it.”

Norma has rubbished Gigaba’s acquaintance’s claims of visiting the Gupta compound or holding meetings with the family. She said there were times where those who were close to Gigaba at the time, would visit the compound with or without Gigaba, including assisting one of her sisters-in-law to be removed from the credit bureau.

Myburgh earlier told Mngoma that a “Mr Masomi”, someone she mentioned in her affidavit, denied meeting with Ajay Gupta, in his own affidavit. “The only person I held meetings with, was Mr Tony, or Atul, Gupta. I know how Mr Ajay Gupta looks like, because his picture has been all over the media. Otherwise I wouldn’t know how he looks like.”

Mngoma: “I don’t care that he was meeting whoever it is, Atul or whoever, but he was there. So, I never said he was going there to meet Ajay – what I said, he was there. So whoever he was meeting, that’s up to him, but he was there, at the Guptas’ house.”

She also accused members of the Hawks, who arrested her, of selectively deleting their overseas pictures, including her trips to Greece, and Washington DC. Norma said her husband didn’t want her to access her passports because he was allegedly hiding their trips, including one that was facilitated by Dudu Myeni. Other trips included their visits to Dubai and one that was “sorted” by Ajay. During one of the trips in Dubai, they met Ajay and another gentleman. Norma claimed that the trip to Dubai was arranged by Ajay.

Mngoma: “The disappearance of my passports have a lot to do with Gigaba, I wanted to hand them to the commission as evidence to assist with certain dates when questioned. I made copies and when I met with the commission investigators, I forgot to bring them.”

Mngoma: “When I returned home, they were not there. He was the only one who had access to our home. I told him that he took my passport and those belonging to our children.

I told him that he didn’t want me to reveal the sequence of our trips abroad. I also asked his former PA for both private and state passports and was never assisted.”

Myburgh asks Mngoma about a discussion about the ANC top six that Gigaba claims they had, which then strays to the “porn” video of Gigaba that was leaked.

Mngoma says the first time she had any discussions about the top six with Gigaba was when he brought it up.

Mngoma: “Malusi said someone from the top six leaked the video – there was a porn video of Malusi that he did, and he came to me, he said one of the top six members leaked the video for him.”

Mngoma: “And also when he resigned, he said to me he was forced to resign, he didn’t do it voluntarily. And one of the top six members, he was told by someone else in the top six, that in the meeting of top six, someone was pushing the president to make him resign.”
Mngoma: “That was the only time I had the discussion about the top six.”

Mngoma tells the commission about a relative of Gigaba’s who was blacklisted, who required R850 000 to clear her name, and Gigaba undertook to assist. Gigaba told Mngoma that once the debt was cleared, the relative (referred to by Mngoma as “the sister”) would be able to be employed.

Mngoma says the sister eventually got a job at (Gupta-owned) Sahara, but was frustrated because the role was in marketing and she was a trained optometrist.

Myburgh asks Mngoma about a large amount of cash she alleges Gigaba was in possession of, which she saw him putting in a safe. Mngoma stated that Gigaba told her he had been given the money by Ajay Gupta for ANC election activities.

Gigaba has denied the allegations, saying “If Mr Ajay Gupta wanted to donate money to the ANC towards the election campaign, why would he give it to me for my private possession instead of giving it to the ANC directly?”

Mngoma responds to Myburgh: “That’s what he told me, when I was asking him what was the money for, because I was shocked, why he was having a lot of money like that. So that’s what he said to me.”
