Deputy Chief Justice Zondo told to step down

A group calling themselves the Gauteng RET Movement marched through the Johannesburg CBD on 9 October 2020 to ask Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo to step down as the state capture commission’s presiding officer, saying he was unfit for the position.

Supporters of former President Jacob Zuma gathered for a protest on 9 October 2020 at the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, led by Carl Niehaus, spokesperson of the uMkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association.

They marched to the Constitutional Court, demanding Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo step down from the commission of inquiry into state capture, accusing him of bias against Zuma.

The Zondo inquiry today heard a proposal to bring back former President Jacob Zuma back to testify.

Zuma has always been resilient about coming back to testify at the inquiry arguing that Zondo is captured and biased.

Zondo has ordered Zuma to be summoned to testify.
