Ex-Generations The legacy actor escapes jail
Lentswe, Stilfontein – A 44-year-old singer actor’s bread robbery charges were dropped in the Stilfontein Magistrates Court last week.
The former Generations: The Legacy and Abo Mzala actor Thembile Botman was relieved that it’s over.
The charges stem from a community protest on 17 September 2019 when a bread truck was stopped at the Orkney-Potchefstroom Road next to Khuma and robbed. Lentswe reported on the robbery.
At the time of the protest Botman was identified as one of the ringleaders.
The homes of some of the ANC ward councillors and one belonging to the deputy director of Sport were torched in Khuma.
Botman was later also charged with public violence for what he will have to appear in court again on 2 September.
Seven more suspects were also charged for public violence, arson and malicious damage to property.
The victims, ward councillors and their families were since kept at a safe place of which the Matlosana Municipality is footing the bill.
