United Kingdom’s television and radio broadcasting regulator OFCOM has sanctioned Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Loveworld news television station.

OFCOM accuses Loveworld media for relaying false conspiracy theories on Covid-19.

The regulator says on the 7th of April 2020 Pastor Chris through Loveworld news stated that Covid-19 was linked to the 5G technology network which was being constructed in the world.

OFCOM says these statements are false and harmful theirfore, Pastor Chris did not give the necessary warning before uttering those statements.

In their statement OFCOM says they are still investigating the issue and might even press more sanctions for the channel.

It comes after London Live and radio station Uckfield FM were sanctioned for airing similar false claims without them being sufficiently challenged.

Loveworld News featured potentially harmful statements about the Coronavirus pandemic and
adequate protection was not provided to viewers.

Additionally, statements were not presented with due accuracy. In breach of Rules 2.1 and 5.1 of the Broadcasting Code.

We have imposed a sanction on
the broadcaster, requiring it to broadcast a statement of our findings. We are considering whether to impose any further sanction.
