28 people arrested in Rwanda for turning homes into bars
Rwandan Police have arrested a total number of 28 men and women who had turned their homes into unlicensed taverns in parts of Kigali.
The 28 individuals were in contravention of the country’s Coronavirus lockdown measures.
Those who were arrested were found selling alcohol in their homes. Some had invited friends to share drinks and party which was totally against the guidelines of social distancing which is one of the measures put down to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Rwanda which has extended the lockdown until April does not ban individuals from taking alcohol in their homes it however prohibits inviting friends and family to gather for drinks.
Disobedience to the lockdown measures is a criminal offence in Rwanda .
Currently Rwanda has 147 comfirmed cases of the virus and 80 recoveries.
